A large part of the energy consumed in every household is used for preparing and storing food. The effects of our energy and food consumption on climate change is topic in all media.
At the same time the preservation, storage and preparation methods of the generations before artificial cooling systems were invented are forgotten.
Fruit and vegetables do not need to be put into the fridge, but love it humid and cool as they mostly consist of water.
Crops get disconntected from their natural water supply during harvest. Exposed to the air and evaporation, they tend to wither and dry out. Due to a special evaporation principle inside Eva bowls the fruit stays fresh and can be stored naturally outside the fridge. (1+2)
When baking bread on the lid of Eva bowls, added water creates a runnel around the loaf. The increased air humidity assists creating a thick crust and thereby their shelf life. (3)
In the oven ice cubes or even cold water can be put onto the lid´s through during roasting. This creates pearls of cooling condensation and a nearly perfect humidity on the inside of the stewing pan. (4)
To preserve for the cold season put jars filled with fruit or vegetables into water and let it boil for a few minutes. (4)
The sieve can be used for gentle steaming, or as a cooking insert. (5)
